WHY DO WOMEN PLAY IN SEPARATE LEAGUES?

Nowadays the only women that are known in the sport world are the wives of the professional athletes. There would not be any problem if women compete in the same categories as men.

On the one hand, in non-physical sports, like chess or poker they do not separate genders. They have the same skills, independently if they are men or women.

On the other hand, in physical sports, they play in separate leagues. If a women has the ability to play in a football team or as a tennis player, why can they not compete against men? Is it because they are not judge like men? No, it is because if a women play in the same leagues as men they would overshadow them, and in this men world they would never accept something like that.

To conclude, women are being separated from men to let them in the spotlight, but people have to be judged for what they are capable of, and not to the gender to which they belong.

AN OPINION ESSAY - DOCUMENTARY FILM: “NO ME LLAMES FOTÓGRAFO DE GUERRA”

The other day in class, we saw a documentary film called “No Me Llames Fotógrafo De Guerra” in which the principal issue was the most relevant Spanish war photographers  and the right and wrong consequences of this job.

The documentary film starts presenting the Spanish photographer Samuel Aranda, who has been passionate about photography since an early age. He won The World Press Photo with a picture that took in Yemen during a demonstration, which shows a woman protecting her son from snipers. Moreover, the documentary film shows other important photographers like Manu Brabo, who had been kidnapped on 6th April of 2011 by the Libyan Army; Emilio Morelanti, who lost a leg during the Afghanistan war when he was with the US Army, and Álvaro Yabara Zavala.

I think that the job of these type of photographers is important and very valuable because they go through struggle so they can take those photos for us. Also, they are risking their lives and taking away their family and friends to keep on their job and let us informed in the best way: with pictures. However, I believe that we should not stay observing and ignoring these terrible situations; we have to do something against them. In the documentary film, the photographers said that many people have faith that if they are photographing them, the ONU or something will save them, but they don’t. Even though many photos come to us, there is no change and this has been happening throughout all history.

In short, I think that if there are photographers risking their lives and leaving their homes to keep us informed with the best photos and arguing what is going on, we must help those innocent people and do something to stop those misfortunes. As the  photojourlanist Fernando Moleres said: “You have to talk about this situation, publish it in the best and strongest way to be able to get the information to the high estates that can intervene”.

What I've learnt about Shakespeare

This term we have studied the life and work of the well known British author William Shakepeare.
We have watched twomovies about him; the first one was "Shakespeare in Love" , a movie based on his life and the inspiration for the tragedy "Romeo and Juliet".The second one was "Hamlet" a movie based on one of his most famous plays.

I believe that this project was very importat, because it helped us learn more about British culture and improve our nolage about this famous author.

With this project we have learnt a lot of new vocabulary with his plays and poems. However, it is really hard to understand because it's from the 16th century. In addition to that, I've learnt that when you love someone really hard sometimes you need to let them go.

SHOULD HEADING FOOTBALL BE ALLOWED UNDER THE AGE OF 14?

Nowadays, football is very popular and is loved by the majority of children. But only some people know the injures that football can make in their head.

On the one hand, people are not aware of this problem and they should be informed. The parents who want their children to become football players, join their children to academies and their children raise up training every single day. Moreover, to be a football player, you have to start playing it in a early age to have oportunities in the future. Also, football players start playing in teams at the age of 18 and the most of them finish playing it at the age of 35.

On the other hand, people have to know the damage that football can make to your brain. In football, heading the ball is important and the fans enjoy it, but it is really bad for the players, specially for the young ones. Heading the ball cause terrible things such as problems with their memory, suffer the post-concussions syndrome, that may cause emotional problems, and more. For that reason, doctors don't recomed to grow up heading a ball and suggest to start heading it until the age of 14.

In short, even thought if you want to be a football player should start training at a young age, I think that they must leave out heading balls until the age of 14. It's difficult because a football player head a ball thousands of times in his career but I believe that the health of the player is more important than the game.
