PEACE DAY ACTIVITIES

In the texts that the students of our school wrote about were peace and important people who talked about it.

In the texts, they talked about Martin Luther King, a man who protested and fought for the right to vote for the black people and the most beautiful thing is that he made protests without wars and violence.

In other texts, they talked about Obama's travel to Selma with his family to remember the March which the black people did to protest to have the right to vote.

Finally, we have a very beautiful song dedicated to Martin Luther King and they recommend to us to watch a movie about wars which is called "The Jacket".

I think that this type of things are so important and that was only 53 years ago so it is very recent. We have a lot of work to change the world because we have a lot of mistakes we can improve.

PEACE DAY ACTIVITIES

In this post I learned a lot of things about Martin Luther King . Like the fact that he never used violance to achieve his goals . I also read for the first time that the American president Barack Obama and his family visited Selma , a small city where a very important march ocurred half a century ago .
Then I read about a movie called "The Jacket" , that talks about war and it's consequences .
And in the end I heard a song called "Blowing In The Wind" . This song is very important because it's words makes you think over a lot of things . In my opinion this kind of activities that students make are very important , because they make us know better what happened before we got the rights we have today .

                                      Articles Review

In general, the four articles talk about human rights and taking decisions in the future.

The first one talks about the march in Selma, how MLK fought against the Apartheid, and talks about how many people celebrate this thing nowadays. The second talks about the famous speech of MLK, and the song in his honour. The third one talks in general about the biggest achievements of King. King won a nobel peace prize and still inspires the whole world in the present. Finally, the fourth one is a movie and it doesn't talk about black rights but it's more about forgiving and forgeting about bad things that happened in the past.

Peace day

In this writings I have heard about the Peace Day. About Martin Luther King I learned that was a militant of the civil rights. He also organized protests against the Apartheid and the poverty in the USA. He thought that black people had the same basic right than the other people.
I also saw a post about a film that talks about peace. The film started in Iraq, in 1991, when an American soldier is injured by a small boy, who shoots him with a gun in the head. The rest of the film is about this soldier, Jack Starks.
In the other post we can see that Barack Obama is married with Michelle and he has two daughters, and he did a March in Selma to remember that half a century after this fight for the right to vote has "other steps to fulfill, other battles to fight". In 1965 about 600 people participated in a march to demand their electoral rights but they were violently attacked in a police assault.

PEACE DAY BLOG

In the blog there are writings about incidents that supposed a revolution but I didn’t learn many things because I consider that we’re all old enough to know this kind of information.
I  found strange the fact that before every big change, there must be an atrocious event. It makes me loose the faith that I have in humanity. This is the main meaning of the song Blowing in the Wind that can either be listened in the mentioned blog.
An atrocious event can be one of that I have readen in this blog, where black people organised a march to demand their electoral rights and when they wanted to go further a bridge they found themselves blocked by the police, where they were been shot.
I have a dream, like Martin Luther King, that one day the world will stop working the way it does since it beginnings.

Peace Day Activities

On this blog '' Among other things'' I have chosen Obama blog.Obama had been present in a small city Selma last march, which was accompanied with his family.Edmund Pettus was violenty attacked right next to the city on march 7, 1965, but thanks to Martin Luther King many people could get from Selma to Montgomery. Finally, my opinion is that I am totally in favor with Obama, and one of the reasons is because when he was young he suffered and and did everything possible to achieve your goals.

PEACE DAY ACTIVITIES

As an activity for the Peace Day some students have written about it in the    school's blog.

Firt of all, after being ellected a black person a President of the USA, the        entire world have really realised about the importance of black people.

Before all of that, there was a lot of fights between black and white people,    because the last ones didn't give the first ones their rights and freedom.

Marthin Luther King was the one that made people see that all humans should   have the same rights and freedom.

In conclusion, all people should know and respect the rights of other persons,   even though they are different, ethnically or culturally.

PEACE DAY ACTIVITIES by Rita Benhida

On the 7th March, 1965, is an important date to remember, because of the people courrage to participate in a march to fight for their electoral rights. They were attacked by the police.
Martin Luther King led thousands of people to go to Montgomery.
King was a militant of the civil rights. He protests against the Apartheid and the poverty in the United States.
In the 50s, black people did not have the right to vote. King fought for their rights, without using violence.
Thanks to Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, ... we live in a better world, so we need to give this people as example, and do not make the mistakes of the past.
