Third
of the eight children of John Shakespeare, a wealthy merchant and
local politician, and Mary Arden. He was born in Stratford-upon-Avon
on 26 April 1564 and died on 3 May 1616.
He
was married to Anne Hathaway, a few years older, with whom he had 3
daughters and a son. He had no grandchildren.
In
his twenties he moved to London, where he began his career as an
actor and playwright.
Shakespeare's
most outstanding works are: Macbeth (his shortest trgeia), A
Midsummer Night's Dream (romantic comedy) and, Romeo and Juliet
(tragedy)
