FILM REVIEW: Shakespeare In Love - Lina Teyar - 2bachC

FILM REVIEW: Shakespeare In Love (1998)

Shakespeare In Love is a movie which was written by Tom Stoppard and Marc Norman; and directed by John Madden. It appeared in theatres on December 25th 1998. It is starred Gwyneth Paltrow, Joseph Fiennes, Geoffrey Rush, Colin Firth, Ben Affleck and Judi Dench. The genres are comedy and romance.

The movie tells the story of how William Shakespeare (Joseph Fiennes), who was a simple play-writer, fell in love and had an affair with Viola De Lesseps (Gwyneth Paltrow), who was a lady of high nobility.

At first, William Shakespeare was asked to write a new play. In the meanwhile, a noble called Viola De Lesseps wanted to act in the theatre. But, unfortunately, that was something that only men could do. Therefore, she managed to wear a costume that made her look like a man. Eventually, she could perform in William Shakespeare's play. When the play-writer had noticed she was a woman, he fell in love with her, and thus they had a love affair.

The movie is really interesting, since it represents very well Shakespeare's era and life. I absolutely recommend it!
