Bertha Benz was born in 1849, Pforzehim - German. She was an automobile pioneer and wife and business partner of automobile inventor Karl Benz.
In August of 1886, Bertha Benz, without permission of the authorities and without telling her husban, who had failed to consider marketing his invention adequately, she drove from Manheim to Pforzehim to prove him that the automobile will become a financial succes.
So, once it will be shown to the general public, this will give him confidence for his near manufacturing of future cars.
Along the way, several people were frightened by the automobile.
But they did not know that the drive was the key event.
That is why she becomes the first person to drive an automobile over a long distance.
She reported everything that had happend a long the way and made important suggestions, solving numerous problems of the automobile.
Her trip, also, proved to automobile industry that test drives were essential to their bussines.
In doing so, she bought tje Benz-Motorwagen worldwide attention, and got the company its first sales in 1886. Benz presented the Patent Motor Car to the world. Within the decade , 25 vehicles had been built.
In 1944, Bertha Benz was honoured with the title "Honourable Senator", by the Technical University of Karlsrute. But, unfortunately, she died two days later in her villa.
